Treatment ApproachDepression is highly treatable, and with the right help, mothers can heal, thrive, and be active participants in promoting their children's social, emotional, and physical well-being. I have an integrative orientation to treatment, meaning that my work draws from several empirically validated techniques and therapeutic approaches. These include Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP), Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CPT), and Lifestyle Medicine.

Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) |
Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) is a short-term, attachment-based psychotherapy that focuses specifically on interpersonal relationships as a means of alleviating patient distress and improving interpersonal functioning. Primary goals of IPT include helping clients to improve their interpersonal relationships, communicate their needs effectively, and strengthen their social support network.

Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP) |
Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP) is an evidence-based psychotherapy model that integrates attachment, psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, and social-learning theories into a dyadic treatment approach. CPP focuses specifically on the relationship between parent and child (birth-6 years) and has been proven to be effective in supporting child development (cognitive, social, and emotional functioning) and fostering positive parent-child attachment relationships.

Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) |
Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) stresses the role of thinking in how we feel and what we do. It is based on the belief that thoughts significantly influence our negative feelings. Primary goals of CBT include helping clients to identify, test the reality of, and correct dysfunctional beliefs underlying their thinking.

Lifestyle Medicine |
Lifestyle medicine (or health coaching) focuses on the use of state-of-the-art strategies to guide patients to healthier lives. Primary goals include helping clients initiate and sustain health-promoting behaviors proven to improve overall lifestyle, such as effective stress management strategies, healthy nutritional and sleep habits, and increased physical activity.
